Congratulations

UiTM Press won an Appreciation Award in the Best Book Category (Science, Technology and Medicine) at the Academic Publication Council of Malaysia (MAPIM) Award Ceremony 2012, which was held on 30 April 2013, at Marriot Hotel, Putrajaya.

This winning book entitled “Laminated Veneer Lumber from Malaysian Tropical Timber, Manufacturing and Design”, was written by YBhg Prof Dr Paridah Md Tahir (Professor, Faculty of Forestry, UPM), Assoc Prof Dr Zakiah Ahmad (Associate Professor, Faculty of Civil Engineering, UiTM) and Assoc Prof Dr H’ng Paik San (Associate Professor, Faculty of Forestry, UPM).

Two Malay Icons Conferred Honorary Doctorates

Shah Alam, 11 May – Two Malay icons were conferred Honorary Doctorates in conjunction with UiTM’s 78th Convocation, held in the university’s Dewan Agung Tuanku Canselor here.

The first recipient was UiTM Pro-Chancellor, YBhg Tan Sri Dato’ Seri Utama (Dr) Haji Arshad Ayub who was conferred the Honorary Doctor of University of South Wales, United Kingdom. The award was presented by Professor John Andrews, Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Board of Governors, University of South Wales, United Kingdom.

The second recipient was the Chairman of EMKAY Group, YBhg Tan Sri Datuk (Dr) Haji Mustapha Kamal Haji Abu Bakar. He was conferred UiTM’s Honorary Doctor of Business and Entrepreneurship. Tan Sri Mustapha Kamal, the 29th recipient of the Honorary Doctorate, is a prominent Malay and corporate icon especially in the property sector. The honorary doctorate was presented by Tan Sri Arshad Ayub.

Tan Sri Mustapha Kamal is also well-known for his involvement in community and environment activities through the establishment of Pulau Banding Foundation, EMKAY Foundation and Pulau Orang Utan Bukit Merah Foundation.

The 78th UiTM Convocation

A total of 21,957 graduands would be receiving their degrees at the 78th UiTM Convocation, held from 11 to 21 May 2013. In Shah Alam campus, the degrees would be conferred over 17 sessions at Dewan Agung Tuanku Canselor (DATC).

The convocation would also be held in four autonomous campuses, namely, Seri Iskandar, Perak (20-21 May), Samarahan, Sarawak (13-14 May), Arau, Perlis (15-16 May) and Dungun, Terengganu (19-20 May).

PM launches Ground Breaking of UiTM’s Raub Campus

Raub, 4 May – Prime Minister YAB Dato’ Sri Mohd Najib Tun Abdul Razak launched the ground breaking ceremony of UiTM’s Raub Campus, Pahang last Saturday, held at the site of the proposed campus.

When completed in 2015, the campus would house the Faculty of Business Management, Faculty of Computer and Mathematical Sciences, and Faculty of Administrative Science and Policy Studies.

Almost 10,000 local residents attended the event. Also present were Pahang Menteri Besar, YAB Dato' Sri Diraja Haji Adnan Haji Yaakob, UiTM Vice Chancellor, YBhg Dato' Sri Prof Ir Dr Sahol Hamid Abu Bakar and Deputy Vice Chancellor of Research and Innovation, Prof Ir Dr Hj Abdul Rahman Omar.
