As part of the initiative realizing academic and industry collaborations, MOU between UiTM, HP and TEL was signed on 2nd Nov, 2009. In 2013, the program was expanded into 5 other Universities such as University Malaya (UM), International Islamic University (IIUM), University Technology Malaysia (UTM), University Malaysia Pahang (UMP) and University Pertanian Malaysia (UPM).
The program’s primary objective is to curb the shortage of software testers in Malaysia, increase employability of graduates, reduce dependencies on foreign skill worker and reduce outflow of Malaysian currency. Software testing market worldwide are projected to be worth 42 billion in 2013. Malaysia have opportunity to capture the market which is worth 28 billion. (source by IDC)
HPSU program covers the latest and cutting edge technology in software testing, such as Application Lifecycle Management (ALM), Unified Functional Testing, HP LoadRunner, Performance Center and Introduction of Testing. A revised curriculum will include new technologies such as cloud testing, mobile application testing, Agile methodology, exploratory testing and security testing.
700 students have been trained since 2009. HPSU graduates have a 76% success rate getting employed. A testing lab has been established in UiTM. When it’s fully equipped with software license this lab can be utilized by students to conduct R&D on software testing. The lab will also be used by students for their software projects.
