The wisdom, passion and ingenuity of the nation’s educators were acknowledged by the Ministry of Higher Education at the National Academic Awards 2008 where 6 educators nationwide won awards of distinction.

Professor Dr Mohammad Hatta Azad Khan, dean of the Faculty of Aritistic & Creative Technolgy was presented the National Academic Award in the field of Creative Arts.

A professor in film studies, Mohamad Hatta Azad Khan has been with the university since 2005 and instructs courses in Film Making & Directing.  During his creative career he has received numerous awards including the following:

  • SEA Write Award, 2008
  • National Art Award- Theatre Script Writing, 2006
  • 1st prize Film Script Writing- FINAS, 2006
  • 2nd prize Stage Drama Script Writing, Dewan Bahasa & Pustaka, 2006
  • The State of Terengganu Art Award (writing), 2005
