In conjunction with the restructuring of UiTM in the context of research, curriculum, teaching and learning, industrial linkages, infrastructure, networking and training, the UiTM National Academic Conference entitled  "The Challenge of Changes: Developing a Holistic Adaptive Model"  Globalisation and technological development that started in the later part of the twentieth century have created urgent demands on the role of the university today.
Innovations and adaptations in models, approaches, transference of knowledge and practices are required to meet these new demands.
The conference seeks to address directions for the future, with regard to the adaptive nature of Universiti Teknologi MARA in the new era as a world class university.
Our focus will be on clear mission statements, different organizational structures, professional university management, shared governance and committed leadership.
This conference aims to provide researchers, lecturers, administrators and industrial personnel interested in the adaptive system to be implemented successfully, with an opportunity to contribute, cooperate and collaborate by sharing their concepts, findings, ideas , practices and experience on matters relating to restructuring and change.
The conference will focus on issues of proactive, reactive or anticipatory responses that aim to reconcile the gap between the organization and its environment. Emphasis is placed on enhancing the use of state-of-the-art technology in the restructuring of the university.
A matter of prime interest is the call to produce K-graduates who possess the academic know-how and the competitive advantage to be more enterprising and to embrace change.
There is an urgent need to improve student-support system based on pragmatic needs in the areas of providing skills and training.
An adaptive structure will help create a learning community that is kept abreast of the current developments and demands of this era.
